Description
This paper’s topic is decolonization. Lloyd in The British Empire (chapters 12-14) and Levine in The British Empire (chapter 11) both analyze decolonization but emphasize different things. The dismantling of the British Empire has been a complicated process and in some ways isn’t quite finished yet. Historians have developed different ways to evaluate the political and social underpinning of decolonization as well as the ongoing consequences. The two authors have different perspectives on how to understand the liberation of colonies across the globe from Britain. The question for you is which of the two authors presents the better explanation of decolonization. Which author has the better argument? Which has the better evidence? There is no single right answer so it’s up to you to assess both books for yourself. The important thing is for your paper to have an argument of its own. The introduction should have a clear thesis statement and specific supporting evidence. Don’t just say that Author X is confusing but explain why that author is confusing and give examples of the confusing parts. The only two sources I need you to use are: Chapter 11 The British Empire: Sunrise to Sunset by Philippa Levine Chapter 12-14 The British Empire 1558-1995 2nd edition by T.O. Lloyd I DO NOT CARE WHAT STANCE YOU CHOOSE… just as long as you have a strong argument and an opinion
