Imperialism was about empire building and required both the actions of government but also the support of the people living in colonizing nations. Empire building and propaganda went hand in hand as it became part of the patriotic fabric of western society. In addition to reading about imperialism in your textbook, this week you will also read through some of the popular patriotic songs/poems in Britain during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
