Rhetorical Strategies

What sorts of rhetorical similarities do you detect between the two assigned readings? For example, do you detect similar exigences? Similar constraints? Similar uses of modes of persuasion? If you do not detect any rhetorical similarities, explain which essay you find to be most effective. (“Effective” may be defined as you see fit.)
