This paper assignment will give you the opportunity to examine a topic of interest in more detail and depth. You may choose to write about a topic that we have not yet discussed in class or to work with a topic that you have written about in a reflection paper. For this paper please choose a topic based on the following criteria:
1). Personal interest
2). Relevance to information technology/ computer science
3). Presents an ethical dilemma that can be analyzed using ethical theory
4). Enough sources to provide ample background and detail on the topic
If you have questions about appropriate topics please
1). Describe your topic, including enough background and detail to highlight the ethical dilemma it presents
2). Describe the ethical dilemma of your topic and how it relates to the field of information technology and make sure that you define and describe all of the stakeholders.
3). Use two ethical theories to evaluate the topic/ dilemma. This section should describe the basic tenants of each theory, apply each theory to the dilemma, and propose a resolution based on the theoretical perspective being applied. Note that you need to correctly describe the ethical theories you use and apply them accurately and logically.
4). Please provide a conclusion to your discussion that highlights your personal feelings and reflections on the issue. This portion of the paper should still be written in a professional/ academic tone.
Formatting and length: Your paper should be at least 1200-1500 words in length. It should be double spaced, times new roman 12 point font, with 1 inch margins. Please provide a cover page and page numbers. Please include a references section that begins on a separate page at the end of your paper.
References: Please use at least 5 references for your paper. Format all of your references in APA format and make sure that each is cited in-text using APA format.
Editing: Your paper should be free from errors in grammar, punctuation, spelling etc. You should edit for word usage and proper sentence flow and construction.
Construction: Your paper should be organized clearly using a paragraph structure. You should include an introductory paragraph, as many supporting paragraphs as necessary to cover your topic clearly and in depth, and a concluding paragraph as a specified above.
Please note that you are required to submit a draft of your first analysis paper for instructor and peer review by November 10. This draft will then be revised by you based on the feedback comments that you receive and will be submitted for a grade by November 15.
